Too much food is wasted every day in canteens, but thanks to the INTENTION project we use artificial intelligence to monitor consumption and reduce waste, improving nutrition and sustainability.

A smart and interactive system

We have developed a discreet automated monitoring system installed directly in canteens. The user places their tray in the dedicated station and, within seconds, the system captures an image of the meal before and after consumption.
Artificial intelligence processes the images and identifies uneaten food, generating aggregated data on waste. The WebApp “mangIA” allows users to view overall statistics and actively contribute to improving the service.
